Location Lat 64° 50' 16N Long 147° 42' 59W Fairbanks is located in the center of Alaska in the United States. Wartime History During the Pacific War, Fairbanks was an important town and base area to supply of American forces in Alaska and Lend-Lease deliveries to the Soviet Union (USSR). Lend-Lease Memorial Monument with a three bladed propeller and spinner gun (P-39 Airacobra) and two pilot figures. The monument reads: "Alaska - Siberia WWII" with three flag poles behind the memorial with three flag poles flying the American, Russian and Alaska State flags. This memorial is dedicated to U.S. pilots and crews involved in the ferrying of American manufactured aircraft to Fairbanks where they were turned over to the Soviet Union and ferried by Russian pilots to Siberia then elsewhere in the Soviet Union.
