Location
Lat 64° 39' 57N Long 147° 6' 5W  Mile 26 Satellite Field (Eielson AFB) is located at an elevation of 548' located roughly 26 miles southeast of Fairbanks. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the Territory of Alaska. Today part of Alaska in the United States.

Construction
Built during 1943, as Mile 26 Satellite Field.

Wartime History
During World War II, used by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF), 11th Air Force (11th AF).

Postwar
On September 18, 1947 the base was assigned to the U.S. Air Force (USAF). On January 13, 1948 renamed Eielson Air Force Base (Eielson AFB) in honor polar pilot Carl Ben Eielson.

Today
Still in use today as Eielson Air Force Base (Eielson AFB) as a military airport. The runway is oriented 31/13 measures 14,507' x 150' surfaced with concrete. Airport codes: FAA: EIL / ICAO: PAEI / IATA: EIL.

During 1954 or 1955, suffered ground accident towed onto a frozen lake and used as a training aid
