Location Lat 5° 32' 3S Long 154° 57' 55E Tinputs is located at the northeast corner of Bougainville. Also spelled Tinputz. Borders Tinputs Harbor. To the west is Dios. Prewar and during the Pacific War, part of Kieta District in the Territory of New Guinea and considered part of the North Solomons, Northern Solomons. During 1975 became Bougainville Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). On June 25, 2002 became the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB). Today located in Tinputz Rural LLG of Northern Bougainville District. Wartime History During early 1942 occupied by the Japanese until the official surrender of Japan in September 1945. Attacked by Allied aircraft during late 1943 until July 1945.
