Kunming celebration for the arrival of "Pick's First Convoy"
This celebrartion commemorates the first U.S. Army convoy of 113 vehicles that departed Ledo on January 12, 1945 and traversed the Ledo Road (Stilwell Road)
and on January 28, 1945 crossed the border into China and successfully reached Kunming traveling a distance of 1,100 miles. At the center is a stage with U.S. Army personnel and Chinese officials standing under a sign and portrait of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek with U.S. flag and the Nationalist flag. In center is a U.S. Army band and the crowd is comprised of Chinese civilians.
