Location Lat 2° 32' 5" S Long 140° 44' 54" E Cape Soeadja forms the northern end of Humboldt Bay (Yos Sudarso Bay) on the north coast of western New Guinea. Prewar and during the Pacific War, located in Dutch New Guinea (DNG) in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Between 1963-2002 part of Irian Jaya. Today located in Jayapura Regency in Papua Province in Indonesia. In Indonesian known as Tanjung Suaja (Cape Suaja). Wartime History Liberated by the U.S. Army in late April 1944. Afterwards, the Americans established a replacement camp at this location. On January 12, 1945 after Japanese submarine I-47 conducted a Kaiten mission in Humboldt Bay, the crew nicknamed Cape Soeadja "Cape Kongo" in honor of the "Kongo" group of Kaiten pilots. Contribute
