Location
Merauke Regency is located in western New Guinea in the southern portion of Papua Province in Indonesia. Prewar and during the Pacific War, part of Dutch New Guinea (DNG) forming the western portion of the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Between 1973–2002 part of Irian Jaya. Today located in Merauke Regency in Papua Province (Provinsi Papua) in Indonesia.
