| Location Waigeo Island is located in the Raja Ampat Group (Raja Ampat Islands). In Indonesian known as Pulau Waigeo. The island is rougly 70 miles long and 30 miles wide. Located at the center of the north coast is Fofak Harbor (Offak Harbor, Teluk Fofak). To the south is Dampier Strait (Augusta's Strait). Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Between 1963-2002 part of Irian Jaya. Today located in the Raja Ampat Regency in West Papua Province (Papua Barat) in Indonesia.
