Location Lat 34° 2' 60N Long 131° 49' 0E Tokuyama located at an elevation of 111' / 33m above sea level in Yamaguchi Prefecture in the Chūgoku Region along the southern coast of Honshū in Japan. Also known as Tokuyama City. During 2003, Tokuyama City merged with the city of Shinnan'yō, the town of Kumage in the Kumage District, and the town of Kano in the Tsuno District, to form the new city of Shūnan. Offshore are several islands including Ohtsushima Island (Ouz Island). Wartime History During the war, Tokuyama was the site of a Naval fuel station and coal yards. Starting in early May 1945 targeted by U.S. bombers. On April 6, 1945 at Tokuyama Oil Depot Battleship Yamato was refueled with 3,400 tons of oil, only enough for a one-way voyage then departs at 3:20pm.
