Wartime History
On April 10, 1945 after preparatory aerial and naval gunfire bombardment Eastern Islands Attack and Fire Support Group (TG 51.19) lands U.S. Army 27th Div, 105th Inf Regiment, 3d Bn to search for isolated enemy groups. In total, the Japanese lost 234 killed. The Americans lost 11 KIA, 3 MIA and 80 WIA. After the capture of Tsuken, American forces swept north and reached Ikei Island on April 11, 1945 and secured all the Yokatsu Islands.
