Location
North P'yŏngan Province (North Pyongan Province) is located in the northwest of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). Also known as North Pyongan Province, Phyŏnganbukto or Pyongan-bukto. The northern edge of the province borders the Yalu River and the international border with China. Prior to 1896 the area was the northern half of P'yŏng'an Province. During 1896 established as North P'yŏngan Province of Korea. In 1945 became part of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). The provincial capital is Sinuiju.
