Location Lat 49°36′N Long 117°26′E Located near the border with Russia, north of Hulun Nur. Known in Russian as "Manzhouli". Also as "Manzhouli-Jalai Nur" In Chinese as 满洲里, 滿洲里. Wartime History After the Manchurian Incident in 1931, Japanese forces occupied Manchouli and Hailar on Decmeber 5, 1932. On June 1, 1935, delegations from Manchukuo and Mongolia unsuccessfully met resolve the Halhamiao Affair and to resolve border differences. On September 3, 1939 the 3rd Cavalry Brigade (reinforced) moved to Manchouli at the end of the Battle of Khalkhin Gol / Nomonhan Incident.
