Lake located to the north of the Holstien River.

Wartime History
During August 1939, the Kwantung Army, 6th Army advanced headquarters was established near this location during the Battle of Khalkhin Gol / Nomonhan Incident.

On August 29th, survivors of 7th Heavy Field Artillery Regiment commanded by Col Takatsukasa arrived at headquarters.

On August 23, 6th Army headquarters commanded by General Ogisu was relocated from Hailar to the northern side of Lake Mohorehi.

Around 8am on August 31, General Komatsubara arrived at the 6th Army headquarters, after a successful withdrawal after being surrounded by the enemy .

On October 28, the 6th Army headquarters was withdrawn back to Hailar.
