New Engineer Bridge (Shin-Koheibashi) Dornod Province Mongolia

Location
Bridge built during the Battle of Khalkhin Gol / Nomonhan Incident by the Japanese over the Khalastin River (Holsten River), roughly 8km east of the confluence with the Khalkhin Gol. Roughly 3km to the south is Height 742.

Wartime History
During the end of July, Japanese engineers from the 23rd Division led by Lt. Col. Numazaki built a wooden trestle bridge over the Holsten River, dubbed “New Engineer Bridge”.  Strong enough to support vehicles, this bridge gave the Japanese another crossing point over the smaller river that divided the battlefield in half.
