Uzuru Pond (Lake Uzur, Uzur Nur) Dornod Province Mongolia

Location
Oval shapped freshwater lake near the border between Mongolia and Manchuria (China). Located roughly 6km north of Nomonhan. Known as "Uzur Pond" or "Uzur Nur" (Lake Uzur).

Wartime History
During the Battle of Khalkhin-Gol / Nomonhan Incident, the Japanese use this location as an advanced logistical base with fuel, ammunition and a large field hospital tent with a red cross flag atop.

On August 21, Soviet aircraft attacked Uzuru Pond.

On August 22, 1939 Soviet armored forces from the 9th Armored Brigade and a battalion from the 11th Tank Brigade attacked this location, including the hospital. They ran over tents and crushed wounded, destroyed motor vehicles, burned fuel and destroyed ammunition, then withdrew.

That evening, the 6th IGU Battalion commanded by Lt. Col Yotsuya with two rapid fire guns arrived from Nomonhan too late.
