Location Lat 11° 17' 57N Long 124° 40' 32E Carigara is located at an elevation of 36' / 10m above sea level on the northern coast of Leyte Island in Leyte Province in the Eastern Visayas (Region VIII) in the Visayas (Visayas Islands) in the central Philippines. Also known as Garigara. Borders Carigara Bay to the north. Wartime History During 1942 occupied by the Japanese until liberated by American forces until early November 1944.
