Edwin Fitchett 1946
Location
The Kennon Road spans 41 kilometers with switchbacks and hairpin turns that connects Rosario in La Union Province eastward to Baguio in Benguet Province in the Cordillera Range of northern Luzon in the Philippines. Named Kennon Road in honor of U.S. Army Colonel Lyman Kennon, who led the construction of the road. Also known as the Rosario–Baguio Road for the two locations it connects. Today part of National Route 54 (N54).

Construction
Built during 1903-1905 by the U.S. Army Engineers led by Colonel Lyman Kennon. During the construction roughly 1,500 Japanese laborers aided in the construction. A total of 500 died due to accidents and mishaps building the road.

Wartime History
During the 1945 liberation of Luzon, Japanese forces defended the road and established roadblocks to imped the US Army's advance up the road.
