Location The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is located at Fort Gegorio H. del Pilar to the south of Loakan Airfield (Baguio Airfield) on Quezon Avenue off the Loakan Road. Borders Camp John Hay to the southeast of Baugio. History In 1908, an officer's school for the Philippine Constabulary was established at Camp John Hay. On September 8, 1926 the Philippine Legislature renamed it the Philippine Constabulary Academy and lengthened the course from nine months to three years. On December 21, 1936, Commonwealth Act No. 1 (National Defense Act) created the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) and authorized it to confer a Bachelor of Science degree on graduates after four years of study and became known as the "West Point" of the Philippines. Wartime History In December 1941 at the start of the Pacific War, PMA closed and the class of 1942 and class of 1943 were graduated ahead of schedule and assigned to combat units in various locations in the Philippines. Postwar On May 5, 1947 reopened at Camp Henry T. Allen. Later moved to the present day location at Fort Gegorio del Pilar. Philippine Military Academy Museum Inside the campus is a small museum, with some WWII items on display, including a Japanese sword, canteens, U.S. helmet and some wartime photos.
