Three dead Americans on the beach at Buna
This photograph was first published in LIFE Magazine on September 20, 1943 page 35 with the caption "Three dead Americans on the beach at Buna". It was the first time any photograph had been published in the American media depicting dead U.S. servicemen. The location of the beach was off Buna Village (Old Village) or Buna Government Station.
The casualties are from the U.S. Army 32nd Division, 128th Infantry Regiment, Company F and
