(Map 6) The Japanese 18th Army planned to advance from the vicinity of Yakamul westward to cross the Driniumor River and attack the American Delaying Position Line (DPL) on the western bank then advance westward to captured Palauru and Chinapeli then advance to attack the Main Line of Resistance (MLR) around Tadji Airfield.
