Lat -4.08°S / 153.65°E  Ambitle Island is the largest island in the Feni Island Group (Feni Islands) is located to the east of New Ireland. To the northeast is Babase Island, an extinct volcano. Today located in Tanir Rural LLG in New Ireland Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The island is also known as Ambitle volcano and is an active stratovolcano.

Pilot Hart crashed January 17, 1944 bail out and deployed his life raft and was rescued at sea seven days later
