Location Four Corners is the nickname of a four way road intersection on the Gazelle Peninsula on New Britain. Also known as "Four Ways". To the north is Vunakanau Airfield. Between 1884 until September 1914 part of Deutsch Neu Guinea (German New Guinea). Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the New Britain District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today part of East New Britain Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Wartime History During the Japanese occupation, the Japanese 8th Army headquarters was located near this location.
