Location
Idiha Island is located off the south coast of New Guinea in the Gulf of Papua at the southern edge of Caution Bay, south of Redscar and east of Boera. To the east is Bavo Island.
Wartime History
During World War II, Idiha Island and Bavo Island were used as a bombing range by Allied aircraft.

Pilot McCoun ditched February 21, 1943 crew rescued
Ray Fairfield recalls from the 1960-1970s:
"We found bombs of varying sizes on most islands, including Local Island and Idihi Island. I still remember the safety radius for a 500-pounder was 2 miles."
