Location Lat 9°19'S Long 149°13'E Keppel Point is a low point on the southern coast of New Guinea. Fringed by numerous reefs and shoals between Black Headed Rocks and Veale Reef. To the west is Hood Bay and Hood Point. To the east is Keakoro Bay. Prewar and during the Pacific War known as the Central District of the Territory of Papua. Today located in the Rigo District of Central Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
