    Manus Province (Admiralty Islands Group)  Papua New Guinea (PNG)
Location
Manus Province includes several island groups including the Admiralty Islands, Hermit Islands, Pelelun Islands and other small islands and reefs. Borders the Bismarck Sea and beyond to the south is the mainland of New Guinea. To the north is the Pacific Ocean and further to the east is New Ireland. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the Manus District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today Manus Province is part of Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Wartime History
During January 1942, Japanese forces arrived in the Admiralty Islands but did not occupy the area until landing on April 8, 1942 at Lorengau. On March 12, 1944 US Army forces landed on Manus Island and recaputured the island and developed the area into a major staging base for the remainder of the Pacific War.

Lorengau  located on the northeast coast of Manus Island.
Rossum (Rossun)  inland village near the northeast corner of Manus Island.
Lombrum (Lombrum Point)  located on the northeast tip of Manus Island bordering Seeadler Harbor.
Seeadler Harbor  borders Manus and Los Negros sometimes incorrectly referred to as Manus Harbor.
Los Negros Island (Hyane)  located to the east of Manus Island bordering Seeadler Harbor.
Ndrilo Island (Ndrillo)  located to the northeast of Manus Island unoccupied landing by 12th Calvary.
Hauwei Island  located to the north of Manus landing by Cavalry developed into artillery base.
Butjo Mokau  located to the north of Manus landing by Cavalry developed into artillery base.
Koruniat Island  located to the northeast of Manus Island unoccupied landing by 12th Calvary.
Rambutyo Island  located to the east of Manus Island unoccupied landing by 12th Calvary.
Pak Island  located off Manus Island landing by 12th Calvary.
Pityilu Island  located to the northeast of Manus Island.
Ponam Island  located to the north of Manus Island.

Western Islands
Hermit Islands  small island group in the Bismarck Sea to the west Manus Islands.
Kaniet Islands  small island group in the Bismarck Sea.
Ninigo Islands  small island group in the Bismarck Sea.
Aua Islands  small island group in the Bismarck Sea.
Wululu Islands  small island group in the Bismarck Sea.

Manus Province airfield/Seaplane/Naval Base
Lorengau Airfield  located at Lorengau on the north coast of Manus Island.
Lombrum Seaplane Base  located at Lombrum on the north coast of Manus Island.
Lombrum Naval Base (HMPNGS Tarangau)  located at Lombrum on the north coast of Manus Island.
Momote Airfield (Hyane Airfield)  located on Los Negros Island still in use as Momote Airport.
Mokerang Airfield  located on Los Negros Island disused since the Pacific War.
Pityilu Airfield  located on Pityilu Island built by the U.S. Navy during 1944.
Ponam Airfield (HMS Nabaron)  located on Ponam Island built by U.S. Navy in 1944 and used by Royal Navy.
