Location
Lat 6° 17' 45" S Long 150° 18' 5" E Montingteng Island is located at the southern edge of Thilenius Harbor (Gasmata Harbor) off the southern coast of New Britain. Borders Malangrut Island, Montingteng Island and Awrin Island to the east-northeast and beyond Gasmata (Surumi, Tsurumi) to the northeast. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the New Britain District in the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in West New Britain Province (WNB) in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
