Location
Rabalanakaia is an extinct volcanic crater located to the southeast of Rabaul, north of Lakunai Airfield on the eastern tip of New Britain. Also known as "Rabalanakaia volcano" or "Mt. Rabalanakaia". Pronounced "Rab-ala-na-kiaya" (Rabaul's volcano). To the west is Sulpher Creek and Simpson Harbor. To the northwest is Rabaul and beyond North Daughter (Mt. Tovanumbatir). To the east is Mother (Mt. Kambiu). To the south is Matupi Harbor and to the southeast is Tavurvur (Mt. Tavurvur, Matupi Volcano) and South Daughter (Mt. Turangunan).
