    Tyuleny Island (Ostrov Tyuleniy, Тюлений, Kaihyo) Sakhalin Oblast Russia
Location
Tyuleny Island is located in the Sea of Okhotsk. The small uninhabited island is 700 meters long and 40–90 meters wide. To the west borders the Gulf of Patience and beyond Cape Patience on Sakhalin Island (Karafuto). Also spelled Tuleny and Tyuleniy. In Japanese known as Kaihyo Island 海豹島. In Russian, known as Тюлений, Kaihyo or Ostrov Tyuleniy. Today uninhabited and located in Sakhalin Oblast in Russia.

Wartime History
On Juy 2, 1945 USS Barb (SS-220) fires 5" rockets at shore installations on Kaihyo Island, the first successful use of these weapons against shore positions by a U.S. submarine.
