New Zealand Army Military Police (MPs) escorting two Japanese prisoner captured on Mono Island
The prisoners was excorted by New Zealand Military Police (MPs) to Striling Island. These Japanese had avoided Allied patrols for five weeks but were surprised and overpowered by natives as they dug in their gardens for food and were captured. After questioning on StirlStirlinging they were imprisoned in the stockade, then transported to Guadalcanal and later to a POW Camp on New Caledonia.
