Location Large, flat mangrove island. Located to the north of Rekata Bay and Suavanao. Also known as "Papatura Fa" or "Papatura Fa Island" or "Papatura Ite". Prewar Papatura Plantation owned by Burns Phillips was a copra plantation built at this location planted with coconut palms harvesting copra. Wartime History During May 1942, occupied by the Japanese. On the southwestern shore of the Papatura Island, the Japanese maintained some facilities to support Rekata Bay Seaplane Base. During early September 1943, the remaining Japanese evacuated the area.
