Location
Eniganimu Island is a small island roughly 1/4 of a mile long located on the eastern outer reef of Truk Lagoon in Chuuk State (Truk) in the Federated States of Micronesia. Also known as "Eni Kanibu Island". Located four miles to the north is North Pass.
Wartime History
During the Pacific War, two 150cm coastal defense guns were emplaced on the seaward side of the island in partially open emplacements with parapets. A total of six personnel from the Imperial Japanese Navy (IN) personnel from the 41st Naval Guard Force were stationed on the island. The beaches were mined with 150 naval beach mines placed 50 yards off the eastern shore opposite the gun emplacements. By February 1944, more revetments were under construction possibly for dummy gun emplacements and the two guns were relocated to the inner islands.
