Aces High A Tribute to the Most Notable Fighter Pilots of the British and Commonwealth Forces of WWII This book has profiles of notable fighter pilots in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and Commonwealth Air Forces of World War II. Chapter 4 includes short profiles of squadrons. Chapter 5 is the bulk of the work with biographical data and claims of the most notable fighter pilots in alphabetical order. Each profile includes their full name, rank, serial number and a summary of their wartime career with a table listing their aerial victory claims including date, enemy plane type, their aircraft, serial number (if known), location and squadron assignment, plus their total claim for aerial victories, shared victories, probable claims and damaged claims. The book ends with a list of fighter pilots claiming four victories or more and "diver" V-1 aces who shot five or more German V-1 flying bombs. The center of the book includes 14 pages of photographs of some of the ace pilots profiled. This book is an essential reference for British and Commonwealth fighter pilots in World War II worldwide including Europe, North Africa, Mediterranean and the Pacific 1939–1945.
