Captain James Donald Robertson His Life and Times From Judith Gap, Montana To World War II In The South Pacific This is the privately published diary plus expanded historical commentary for the family of Captain James Donald Robertson who was a B-24 Liberator pilot in the 5th Bombardment Group (5th BG) during World War II. The book is based off Robertson's diary expanded with historical annotations and commentary in six chapters: early days, Army Air Corps Training, South Pacific, Air Strikes, R&R, Back to Combat and Gone But Not Forgotten. Robertson was a B-24 Liberator pilot flying combat missions in the South Pacific and Solomon Islands. Robertson had earned enough points for a trip home and this was to be his last mission. Tragically, he went Missing In Action (MIA) on August 9, 1944 piloting B-24J Liberator 42-73268 on a bombing mission against Yap Island.
