General Kenney Reports A Personal History of the Pacific War General Kenney Reports is the autobiography of General George C. Kenney who severed as the Commanding Officer (C.O.) of the 5th Air Force (5th AF) from September 3, 1942 until the end of the Pacific War. The book is written in a conversational format with Kenney's recollections of events and interactions with subordinates. It is not clear if Kenney used wartime records to research and write his autobiography. While writing the book. Kenney was serving as commander of the Air University at Maxwell AFB and would have had access to any historical records related to his service. It seems Kenney wrote the book from memory as many details including dates and locations are often incorrect. Kenney's memoir highlights many of the famous individuals that served under him including personal stories about his top fighter aces including Richard I. Bong, Thomas McGuire, Thomas Lynch, Neel E. Kearby. First published in 1949, the book has been reprinted in many editions including 1987 and 1997. The book is available as a PDF download from the Air Force History Museums Program [PDF] 31.2 MB. Review by Justin Taylan Return to Book Reviews | Add a review or submit for review Last Updated |
