Ghost Fleet of the Truk Lagoon Japanese Mandated Islands An Account of "Operation Hailstone" February, 1944 This book is a short history and pictorial history of the US Navy strike on Truk Lagoon, covering the lead up to the US Navy "Operation Hailstone" strike of February 17, 1944. Lavishly illustrated with drawings and charts by the author and some shipwreck photographs. The book also tells the story of I-169 and conditions on Truk after the attack, in chapters detailing starvation, surrender and postwar war crimes trials. The book has several interesting appendixes including a list of shipwrecks sunk, details on USN Task Force 58, Truk defenses and extensive bibliography.
