The First Team Pacific Naval Air Combat From Pearl Harbor to Midway This volume is over six hundred pages and is nothing short of a ground breaking work. Lundstrum has written the definitive account of US Navy air combat in the early months. The First Team covers the attack on Pearl Harbor, Battle of the Coral Sea and pivotal Battle of Midway. Lundstrom writes from a combination of official and command level, coupled with individual pilot accounts, and he covers the Japanese side of actions, something no American author had done previously. The First Team remains the standard against which similar volumes are measured. This book was followed up by The First Team And The Guadalcanal Campaign first released in 1994.
