The Story of a Lost World War II Pilot And A Twenty-First-Century Soldier's Mission to Bring Him Home

The story of loss and redemption about two American servicemen: U.S. Marine Corps Captain Marion R. McCown, Jr. pilot of F4U Corsair 02402 who was shot down in World War II. Also, the story of the modern-day soldier, U.S. Army Major George Eyster working for Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) to bring home his remains six decades later.

The author was an embedded journalist working for the Boston Globe who accompanied JPAC on a mission to Rabaul in Papua New Guinea (PNG). After writing a series of articles titled "A Bond of Brothers" the story was expanded into this book.

During the mission, the team visited the crash site of F4U Corsair 02402 piloted by Captain Marion R. McCown, Jr. plus the crash site of F4U Corsair 55908 pilot 1st Lt. Allan S. Harrison, III.
