American Aircrews of WWII

This book deals with the experiences of young aircrews from WWII's European and Pacific campaigns, 19 and 20 year olds who faced war in the skies. Submitted by the veterans themselves, or their relatives, and documents their stories about life as POWs or engaged in feats of survival to keep their planes in the air, and the legacy of those crews that never returned. One chapter is "The Final Flight of "Rum Dum" is the story of SSgt Earle W. Painter B-24 Liberator ball turret gunner with 13th Air Force, 307th Bomb Group, 371st Bomb Squadron narrated by John Painter.
