Ship History
Built by Mitsui Bussan K.K. Zosenbu Tama Kojo at Tama. Laid down November 9, 1935 as a passenger-cargo ship. On June 9, 1936 launched as Shinsho Maru. On July 27, 1937 completed and registered with Kuribayashi Shosen K.K. in Tokyo. with call sign JIOK and began service between Muroran, Osaka and Kobe.

Wartime History
On August 4, 1937 requisitioned by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as chartered special transport ship assigned to the Kure Naval District with Commander Yasushi Osaki assigned as the supervisor. The next day, assigned to Riki Yoshi Takamori as commander. Afterwards, used as transport in Japan, Korea, Manchuria and China.

On December 1, 1941 registered as an auxiliary destroyer tender in the Yokosuka Naval District under instruction No. 1570. Captain Yokoyama Tokujiro assumes temporary command and assigned to the 1st Fleet, Carrier Division 3 then outfitted at Uragasenkyo K.K. for the next two weeks.

Sinking History
On July 9, 1942 sunk by two torpedo fire by USS Thresher (SS-200) into deep water eleven miles southwest of the Kiiyo Channel (Gea Pass) near the Southern Atoll in Kwajalein Atoll.
On July 31, 1942 officially removed from the Navy list.
