Ship History Built by Kawasaki Kisen in Kobe during March 1938. Wartime History On December 23, 1942 at 2:00pm departs Paramushiro Island. in stormy weather bound for Kiska Island. On December 30, 1942 anchored in Kiska Harbor and begins unloading her cargo. Sinking History On December 31, 1942 in the morning, unloading of cargo was completed. At 11:00am American aircraft suddenly attacked. During the battle a bomb fell near the port side hold No.1 and water column fell back on ship causing further damage. The ship began flooding and lost power. During the raid, four crew were killed. Afterward, the ship underwent emergency repairs. On January 4, 1943 a violent wind and rain storm caused further damage and was abandoned. Shipwreck The wreckage was investigated in 2001, and found to be collapsing badly.
