Ship History
Built by Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ. Laid down August 10, 1942. Launched October 23, 1942. Completed November 10, 1942 and placed into service with the U.S. Navy (USN).

Wartime History
Assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 9 (MTBRon 9) and sent to the South Pacific. Nicknamed "Leaping Lena".

Mission History
On July 2, 1943 ran aground on an uncharted coral reef and was abandoned off Munda Point on New Georgia. On July 4, 1943 destroyed to prevent capture.
