Ship History Built by Higgins Industries, New Orleans, LA. Laid down November 12, 1942 as 78' Higgins Motor Torpedo Boat. Launched January 15, 1943 as PT-251. Completed May 31, 1943 and assigned to the U.S. Navy (USN). Wartime History On April 8 1943 assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron Twenty (MTBRon 20). This PT-Boat transited the Panama Canal and proceeded to the South Pacific and operated from Treasury and Bougainville. Nicknamed "Nola Flash". Fate On February 26, 1944 ran aground in Empress Augusta Bay on Bougainville and sunk by a shore battery.
