BSIP Schooner 10 Tons |
Ship History Dadavata was a ten ton schooner used by the British colonial government prewar in the Solomon Islands. Wartime History During the Japanese occupation of New Georgia, Dadavata was used by Allied Coastwatcher Donald G. Kennedy based at Segi (Seghe) to transport himself and his force around Marovo Lagoon. On May 19, 1943 during the night Kennedy and his men engaged a Japanese whaleboat in Marovo Lagoon and ambushed with rifles, then rammed the enemy vessel and sank it and killed everyone aboard.
