Aerial view of USS Lexington (CV-2) under attack by Japabnese aircraft during the Battle of the Coral Sea
This photo was taken around 11:00am during the Japanese attack. The air is filled with bursts of anti-aircraft fire. Heavy black smoke from her stack and white smoke from her bow indicate that the view was taken just after being hit by bombs. To the lower left is a U.S. destroyer likely USS Phelps (DD-360). In the center of the photo are two splashes from Type 91 aerial torpedoes entering the water, released by B5N2 Kates from Zuikaku.
