Ship History
Built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation's Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, Massachusetts. Laid down June 2, 1935 as a Gridley-class destroyer. Launched February 25, 1937 as USS Craven (DD-382) named for U. S. Navy officer Tunis Augustus Macdonough Craven sponsored by Mrs. F. Learned, daughter of Commander Craven. Commissioned September 2, 1937 in the U.S. Navy (USN).

Wartime History

On December 7, 191 at the start of the Pacific War, at sea escorting USS Enterprise (CV-6) roughly 215 nautical miles west of Oahu. On December 11, 1941 while refueling USS Craven (DD-382) accidentally collided with the cruiser and sustained damage then returns to Pearl Harbor.

Fate

On October 2, 1947 sold for scrap and afterwards broken up.
