Sub History
Built during 1945. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as a Kaiten Type 4 as a manned suicide torpedo.

Wartime History
At the end of the Pacific War, surrendered to U.S. forces and were disassembled into pieces for disposal. This middle section of the hull survived.

Display
This Kaiten Type 4 middle section of the hull was donated to the Yasukuni Jinja (Yasukuni Shrine) and is displayed at the Yūshūkan (Yasukuni Museum) in the Great Exhibition Hall. The periscope is extended and the forward end of the hull is open allowing visitors to view inside and see the base of the periscope assembly.
