Wartime History Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) or Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 94 Te Ke Tankette serial number 88. This tankette was transported to Balikpapan on Borneo. On July 1, 1945 during "Operation Oboe 2" this tankette was captured by the Australian Army 2/9 Infantry Battalion at Balikpapan. During December 1945, shipped as cargo aboard SS Winchester Victory to Australia as a war prize. Afterwrds, the Australian Army Military History Section allocated the case number S125. Display This tankette is stored at the Treloar Technology Centre / Australian War Memorial Annex (AWM Annex). AWM accession number REL/16287. The tankette has been repainted with a four color pattern of sand yellow, olive drab, green and brick red. On Borneo, Australian soldiers scratched their names or service numbers into the exterior paint with some still visible to this day.
