Kevin Donahue 2004
Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) as Type 97 Chi-Ha Medium Tank hull number unknown.
Transported to Saipan. During June 1944, disabled during the Battle of Saipan and captured by U. S. forces.
This tank is displayed on Saipan atop a concrete pedestal. The turret is facing forward. Over the past decade, its condition has deteriorated and the bow machine gun and other parts have been removed. During the early 2000s, a metal frame was added to the top of the turret as a replica radio antenna.
Thanks to Allan Kelly, Bruce Petty and Kevin Donahue for additional information
