Background
The 125th Infantry Regiment (125th IR) was a National Guard unit in the 32nd Infantry Division (32nd ID) "Red Arrow Division" in the U.S. Army. In late 1940, federalized and sent to Camp Livingston, Louisiana for training.
Wartime History
On December 8, 1941 when 32nd Infantry Division (32nd ID) "Red Arrow Division" became a triangular division with only three regiments, the 125th Infantry Regiment was transfered to the Fourth Army and within days was shipped to California. The 125th Infantry Regiment set up their headquarters in Los Angeles "guarding Hollywood" with detachments spread across the southwest. By January 1, 1942 the 125th was reunited in Los Angeles and at one point were camped in Griffith Park and made films to train recruits in infantry tactics. During April 1942 moved to Gilroy, California with detachments across central California spanning from Oakland, Fresno and San Luis Obispo.
Postwar
In 1946,
became part of the new 46th Infantry Division (46th ID).
