Background
On December 7, 1942 constituted as the 64th Troop Carrier Squadron (64th TCS) in the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). On December 12, 1942 activated as part of the 403rd Troop Carrier Group (403rd TCG) at Bowman Field in Kentucky operating the C-47 Skytrain. On December 18, 1942 moves to Alliance, Nebraska. On May 3, 1943 moves to Pope Field in North Carolina. On June 20, 1943 moves to Baer Field in Indiana. On July 18, 1943 begins a movement overseas to the South Pacific (SoPAC).

Wartime History
On August 1, 1943 arrives Tontouta Airfield on New Caledonia.

On August 7, 1943 moves to Espiritu Santo in New Hebredes and the same day begins flying missions.

On September 5, 1943 lost is C-47A Skytrain 42-23711 pilot 1st Lt. Robert H. Healy (KIA) with one survivor who was found a week later.

On November 1, 1943 moves to Henderson Field on Guadalcanal.

On September 16, 1944 moves to Biak.

On October 2, 1943 begins operating from Wakde Airfield until October 21, 1944 then returns to Biak.

On October 29, 1944 begins operating from Noemfoor until January 1, 1945 then returns to Biak.

On July 16, 1945 moves to Dulag Airfield on Leyte in the Philippines.

On January 1, 1946 moves to Clark Field on Luzon in the Philippines until May 15, 1946 when inactivated.

Postwar
On April 5, 1947 activated in the reserves as part of the 419th Troop Carrier Group (419th TCG) at Olmsted Field in PA. On September 18, 1947 becomes part of the U.S. Air Force (USAF). On June 27, 1949 redesignated 64th Troop Carrier Squadron (Medium) as part of the 403rd Troop Carrier Group (403rd TCG) at Portland Municipal Airport in Oregon. On April 1, 1951 ordered to active service operating the C-46 Commando. On March 29, 1952 begins a movement overseas to Japan.

On April 14, 1952 assigned to the 403rd Troop Carrier Wing (403rd TCW) at Ashiya Airfield in Japan. On January 1, 1953 inactivated and that same day activated in the reserves at Portland Municipal Airport in Oregon. On November 16, 1957 moves to Niagara Falls Municipal Airport in New York. On March 25, 1958 moves to O'Hare Airport. During 1962 begins operating the C-119. On October 28, 1962 ordered to active service. On November 28, 1962 relieved from active service. On February 11, 1963 assigned to the 928th Troop Carrier Group (928th TCG).
