According to the AWM citation, this film was made on September 7, 1942 but this date is incorrect based on the aircraft portrayed and was made between May 1942 to July 1942. American pilots flying Curtiss P-40E Warhawks from 9th Fighter Squadron (9th FS), 49th Fighter Group (49th FG), United States Army Air Force (USAAF) based at Livingstone Field (34 Mile) near Darwin. Identified pilots include Lieutenant R. Taylor from Missouri, Captain B. S. Irvine of Georgia, Lieutenant Robert M. McComsey of Pennsylvania, Lieutenant C. L. Patterson, Lieutenant J. C. Peasles, Lieutenant A. J. Reynolds of Oklahoma.
